We were able to implement a framework that can be used for spatial search or analysis. We presented a formalization of our approach that is based on the idea of region growing—an Image Segmentation technique—described the implementation of it, and illustrated its feasibility by applying it to a use case scenario. In the case study, we show that our implementation enabled us to find well-known shopping areas in Vienna and London by using raw data of OpenStreetMap as a source.
